Astro_22 By D.K. Wilkinson
Boot Up
---------
When Astro_22 is booted from desktop the program loads in a chart file
from within the 'FILES/FAMILY' folder named 'USER'. This chart is then
displayed on screen at start up.
The USER file can be reconfigured quite simply by saving your own
personal chart into the 'FAMILY & FRIENDS' folder using the filename
'USER'. When restarting the program this file will also be installed
as 'Resident Chart' and 'User Chart' for immediate use with the
progression and aspect modules.
Current Chart
--------------
This is the present or working chart and can be recalled to screen
after aspect or other calls by clicking this option from the menu.
Resident Chart
---------------
This is the secondary chart used for comparisons with the current
chart, or for progressions. The resident chart is used for progession
work and it is this chart which is progressed. To make a current file
resident use the 'Make Current Resident' option from the menu.
User Chart
-----------
This is the personal chart loaded into the program at start up. This
chart can be called at any time to be made resident or to be compared
to a current resident chart.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
PROGRESSED MODULE - PRICE £5
------------------------
1. PROGRESSION FLAGS
-----------------------
Real Time Progression
----------------------
While this flag is active the progressed date is taken from the current
date & time as set with the 'Date / Time' menue option. The program
will progress the resident chart to this date and time. If this flag is
not set, a prompt will ask for the progressed date.
Default to Start Of Cycle
--------------------------
When active this flag calculates the progression to the start of the
last cycle. For example, if the progressed day is 46.45 years the
program defaults to 46, the beginning of the new cycle. This is
useful when reading a progressed or tertiary chart to obtain an
overview of the complete, present cycle.
Converse Progression
--------------------
When set, this option calculates progressions backward in time to the
set progression date.
Progress Options
-----------------
Having set any flag options required, the type of progression can be
selected from the menue. You are able to progress a chart through any
option without reseting parts of the program. For example, you may
calculate a tertiary chart, then immediately afterwards calculate a
progressed chart. If the Aspect module is present a check of aspect
patterns of the current progressed chart and current progressed chart to
the resident chart can be calculated.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
ASPECT MODULE - PRICE £5
--------------------
Tabulated Aspects
------------------
1. Aspects All: Lists the major and minor aspects of the current chart
in degrees of orb.
2. Aspects Magnified: Lists aspects of the current chart which are within
one degree of aspect - shown as seconds orb.
3. Aspects Extended: Lists aspects of the current chart in an easy to
analyse format.
4. Compare Chart: Gives a listing of major aspects between the current
and resident charts in degrees of orb.
5. Compare Magnified: As for 4. above except the listing is in seconds
of orb including both major and minor aspects that are within one degree
of aspect.
Print out
---------
If the 'Set Printer' flag of the main menue is active, a listing of
aspects is sent to the printer.
Note: The tilde character (~) denotes applying aspects.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
GRAPHIC ASPECT WHEELS - PRICE £8
---------------------------
In all graphic aspect displays, the unbroken lines represent harmonious
flowing aspects. Broken lines represent a hard or stressful relationship
between the planets shown.
If GDOS is present a listing of aspects is also shown in point size 5
at the top left of the screen.
1. Aspect Wheel: Displays major aspects of the current chart.
2. Extended Wheel: Is the same for 1. above but includes aspects to the
Ascendant, Midheaven, North Node and Fortuna.
3. Compare Charts: All major aspect between the current and resident
charts are calculated and displayed.
4. Compare Magnified: Displays major and minor aspects between the
current and resident chart which are within one degree of orb.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
MIDPOINTS MODULE - PRICE £5
-----------------------
This module allows the user to calculate and dispay the midpoints
of the current chart and compare transits and progressions to
natal midpoints.
Screendups can be sent to the printer.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
TOGGLE FACILITY - PRICE £4
----------------------
This module is used to update screen displays in preset time increments
or decrements and can be used with any screen output or current calculation
mode, even progressions - Very usefull for rectification work.
To activate the module, set the interval required by clicking on the 'Set
increment' menue option.
When in use the module redisplays your current work screen updated by the
time increment or decrement as set.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
AUTO FACILITY - PRICE PRICE £5
---------------------
This module is used to give a continuous screen or printer output of
pre-determined displays to an incremented time interval.
Its most practical use is for printer listings. For example you may wish
to hardcopy a graphic display; show on the same page the associated
aspects; set a new page then print out the same information incremented by
one day: This over a period of 30 days.
When called, the module first requests a start date, the increment
required and the number of work cycles. When complete, a second screen
appears listing a numder of work options. (The shaded items are for
later use with text files.) Click any of the options shown in the order
you require the work processed . These are shown in a secondary window for
acceptance. To reselect, click the clear button. To continue, click the OK
button.
Latitude and longitude position is taken from the resident chart data.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Screen dumps and printer output occur only if the
printer flag is active prior to selection. This is set by the 'Set Printer'
menue option: Otherwise all output is sent to screen only.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
PLANETARY DATA - PRICE PRICE £4
----------------------
Lists tabulated planetary data including house position, mode, dignity
by sign and house, element and quality. Also, a summary showing the number
of planets in the elements, mode and quality.
If the printer flag is set, a listing is sent to the printer.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
GDOS MODULE - PRICE PRICE £5
-------------------
This allows an enhanced screen display of the astrological
symbols in differing point sizes enableing more information to be
shown on screen. More beneficial to Mono users! GDOS itself is
not included because of copywrite restrictions. However, most ST
users have the program which is supplied with most paint and
drawing programs - look in the Auto folder for it. Then transfer
it to the Auto folder of Astro_22 and reboot.
If you have a copy of Fontkit by Jeremy Hughes feel free to
experiment with the GDOS GEM fonts found in the 'GDOS.SYS'
folder.

CHARACTER ANALYSIS - PRICE PRICE £10
--------------------------
Gives a screen and/or printer listing interpreting the character traits
of the 'current chart' subject. This module was the most arduous and
time demanding of all and just about broke my determination to proceed.
However, here it is at last after a second re-write. In attempting to
make such an interpretation meaningful and easily understood, I have
broken the subject into recognized planetary attributes i.e. all listings
of the Sun through Sign, House and Aspect relate to modification of
personality traits; Mercury, mental attributes etc.
For those who wish to write their own interpretation of the aspects, all
the relevant document files can be modified with any word processor in
Ascii 2 mode. One inportant point to be aware of is that the asterix at
the beginning of the relevant sub file is used by the program as a flag
or counter, enabling the correct sub file to be located. This asterix
must be the firt character on the header line with no white space to the
left. Header lines must be left in place! However, text between headers
is unrestricted. It is permissable to add to the header but only that
which fits on to one line of 74 characters.
Files relating to character analysis are located in sub-folders within
the main 'TEXT' folder.
For printer listout ensure the printer flag is set before proceeding.
To break out of a screen or printer listing hold down the Esc key.
To save printer paper, hense money, the program reformats the uplifted
file before printout to give a condensed listing. Choose Epson mode for
your printer.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Printers
----------
The Astro_22 program utilises the inbult screendump ability of
the Atari ST and is fine for most 9pin printers. Ensure that the
printer accessory is set for 960dpi.
24 pin users need not despair - a separate driver is supplied
which allows Epson LQ printers and compatibles to dump Astro_22
screens.
